Nearby are the seaside resorts of Marina di Pisa, with its characteristic Art Nouveau villas, and Tirrenia, surrounded by greenery. The Pisa Charterhouse is a spectacular complex located in Calci, while the small and characteristic town of San Miniato is located on a hill overlooking the Arno Valley. The wide beaches surrounded by dunes and fresh pine forests alternate with the landscapes of the backcountry, which are rich and varied, always taking on different shapes and colours up to the breathtaking badlands and erosion phenomena that characterise the Volterra and Val di Cecina areas, or even the extraordinary landscape and suggestion created by the geothermal vents of Larderello.
